Organize the best play date for kids with these 5 easy tips

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when it’s the first time you host a play date. Not only will you think of the children, but also their parents or guardians. But it shouldn’t be too hard to plan one – with a little effort, you can arrange the best play date for your child and their friends!

Choose the right date and time

Each child has a different nap or snack time, so take this into account when choosing the time and date of the event. Late morning before lunch or late afternoon are ideal times. Better yet, ask moms what would be the best time for their child and plan a time that works for everyone. Remember that a normal play day is only an hour and a half to two hours at most.

Limit the number of children you invite

Since this is the first time you are organizing a play day, don’t invite all the children in the neighbourhood at the same time. Try first with a few mothers and children (5 children maximum), preferably those with whom your family is closest. This way, you will not feel obliged to prepare and receive many people and your child will get used to the idea of organizing play meetings without any problem. The event will also be an excellent opportunity to get to know the mothers and children better, as the play date will be enjoyable.

Ask your guests to bring a toy.

While you are providing snacks and entertainment, ask each invited child to bring one or two toys of their choice, especially if the children are not the same age (some may be infants, others toddlers). This is a great way for little ones to learn to share and you’re sure everyone has something to play with that they love.

Get everything ready

Many parents are reluctant to host a gambling date because they have to do general housekeeping. Don’t worry: confine your guests to certain areas of the house and just tidy up those rooms. A play area, bathroom and kitchen should suffice. Don’t forget to lock up your pets too!

Plan a structured activity

In addition to snacks and games, plan a fun activity that both children and moms will enjoy. It can be a story, a game or even a dance. This will help all guests warm up to each other.
