Let healthy food be your medicine and medicine be your food – Eat Healthily

Newspaper headlines on health issues are worrisome these days.

Recalls of prescription and over-the-counter medications; stories of cough medicines for children that are no longer considered safe.

You hear about recalls of eggs and other foods. You hear more and more about antibiotic resistance and superbugs like MRSA. We are bombarded with scary stories about swine flu and are urged to get the flu shot.
New guidelines are being created for school lunches as we face an epidemic of obesity.

If you read the news too much, you can become severely depressed. The news often seems to play on our fears and focus on the negative aspects.

Another thing that I find disturbing is that news reports are presented as news stories when they are actually promoting a drug or prescription drug.

Is it news or is it another advertisement? The boundaries are becoming blurred. And speaking of advertising, all the other ads are about a drug. I can’t help but laugh when they start the warnings, saying that the drug can cause everything from seizures to death.

Are you making fun of me? I’d have to be desperate enough to take this drug.

In fact, I’m not currently taking any medication at all and I avoid over-the-counter drugs, doctors and hospitals. They tend to make you sick. I’m not kidding. My lifestyle serves me very well when it comes to my health.

I believe that eating fresh, healthy food and staying as far away as possible from medications and drugs, fast food and processed foods keeps me very healthy. I lead a very active life, but I don’t have a real exercise program.
When the snow doesn’t cover the sidewalks, my husband and I like to walk. So I’m not perfect. I could lose 5 or 10 pounds and get more exercise. But I believe you can strengthen your immune system by eating healthy foods and go even further to cure many ailments by helping your body through nutrition.

Your body is powerful if you feed it properly. It cannot function well with poor nutrition.

Food can cleanse your body and give it everything it needs to fight and kill almost any harmful germs it comes into contact with. Germs are not the problem. Your immune system is the problem.

Strengthen your immune system and it will keep you healthy. Medication usually weakens your immune system, which is your body’s best asset.
